Cash for Class and School Days: At various times throughout the school year Family Fare Supermarkets and D&W Food Centers provide opportunities for families to earn money for our school. To participate, shop at the designated store during the promotion week, provide the cashier with our school’s code (# 87953) and the store will donate 5% of your total bill to our school. The PIT will announce upcoming promotion dates and our school’s code number.

Garment Sale: Dutton Christian holds a sale typically once a year for families to purchase clothing with the DCS logo. This is a great opportunity to display school spirit, and they’re great gifts for the whole family.

Golf Outing:  This event is held in late spring at a local golf course. Golfers play in a foursome for prizes at “special event” holes and win door prizes. Chairing this event involves soliciting sponsors, getting donations and arranging for the golf course. Volunteers are needed the day of the golf outing to assist with various activities.

2016-10-01-18-22-00Harvest Sale:  This event is held on the first Saturday in October and is our biggest fundraiser. The evening begins with dinner and desserts followed by a silent and live auction. Chairing this event involves planning the date and time, organizing materials for solicitors, soliciting donations, printing the information packet for the evening’s auction, setting up and clean-up. Food Committee Chairpersons are responsible for organizing the dessert tables. Many volunteers are needed to assist the chairpersons prior to and during the harvest sale to make this event a success. See the School Circle sign-up sheet for a detailed list of volunteers needed. 2019 Harvest Sale booklet

Ink Cartridge Recycling:  Empty black and color computer ink cartridges as well as toner cartridges, can be turned into either school office for recycling. Our school receives money per cartridge. Staples rewards are given to the teachers to purchase supplies for the classes.

Paper Gator:  The Paper Gator is a large green recycling dumpster. There is one at each school. Items can be dropped of at any time day or night. The dumpster will take: newspaper, office paper, junk mail, catalogs, phone books, construction paper, and damaged books. It is NOT meant for corrugated cardboard, plastic bags, glass, or aluminum foil. The paper is used by BPV Environmental in Byron Center for lawn mulch and pet products. The monies earned from this fundraiser will be used by the students of Dutton Christian and to help others.

Small Sales: These sales can vary year by year but typically include the Entertainment Book sale.

TerraCycling:  Located in the Recycling room. Earnings are growing every year. We have many competitions throughout the year. Visit our information on the website, Facebook, or on printouts located by either school office. Fourth and Fifth graders help sort. Supervision help, sorters, middle school runners, salon runners, bag sewers, and cookie bakers are needed. Please see Carol DeVries, Holly Fennema, or Wendy Klunder to sign-up or for more information.

Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP): TRIP has been established to assist both present and future DCS families by giving them the opportunity to accumulate tuition credit. Through this program, bulk quantities of gift certificates are purchased from various grocery stores, retail stores, and restaurants. These certificates are then sold to participating families at face value with the discount passed on in the form of a tuition credit. One percent of the discount is retained by the school for operating costs. A participant can apply credit to a family or to the school’s Tuition Assistance Program. This is specified on each order form. Relatives and friends may also order through the school and indicate their credit be posted to your account. The amount of credit you have accumulated will be posted to your account in April and October. Weekly on-line and paper orders placed on Wednesdays are filled the following Wednesday. Quick TRIP is offered so you can immediately purchase and take certificates. Quick TRIP is offered on Wednesdays at the elementary school. (See the PIT or DCS website for specific times). To enroll in TRIP, call or stop in the school office and request an enrollment form. Helpers are needed to sell Quick TRIP on Wednesday mornings or afternoons and pick up certificates at participating stores on Wednesday mornings.

Dutton Christian School does not in any way endorse or promote the participating stores or businesses.

Walk-n-Jog: This fundraiser is held every year in the spring. Students collect pledges from family and friends for the walking, jogging or activity course that they intend to complete. Family and friends are welcome to come and cheer on the students. Chairing this event involves organizing the activities for the kids to participate in and coordinating snacks for the students following the event. Workers are needed to help set up for the event, assist each class with their activities and help clean up.
