Outdoor Education Program

Provided in grades 1st - 7th in the 25/26 school year.

Program Philosophy

It is our goal to create a blend of outdoor and environmental education for students to learn about God and His world through their engagement with the natural environment. Our deep hope is that students will develop a worldview of God as Creator while also embracing their roles in the restoration chapter of God’s Story as they learn to be order discoverers, creation enjoyers, God worshippers, justice seekers, and more! In addition, it is our hope that students will understand the life-sustaining cycle of seed to harvest, build a respect and appreciation for nature, and develop a desire to care for the world around them.

Some of the many benefits of Outdoor Education for our students:

Meeting 21st Century Needs

Cultivates skills essential for succeeding in tomorrow’s world, such as questioning, investigating, defining problems, analyzing, interpreting, reasoning, developing conclusions, and solving problems. Also emphasizes cooperative learning with others, critical thinking and discussion, and a focus on action strategies with real-world applications.

General Revelation

Provides a multitude of varied opportunities for students to learn more about God through nature.

Breaking the Indoor Habit

Offers an antidote to the plugged-in lives of today’s generation, which is the first to grow up indoors. Children who experience school grounds or play areas with diverse natural settings are more physically active, more aware of good nutrition, more creative, and more civil to one another.

Improving Student Health

Gets students outdoors and active and helps to address common issues in children today, such as attention deficit disorder, anxiety and depression, sensory dysregulation, and social/emotional challenges.
